so, today is a day for theory, for writing, …and for the sad affair I am being forced into with my laptop. no no, not that I don’t like the little macbook air — it’s serving me well, especially right now — but indeed, I do covet my 24” iMac which has apparently decided to “crash” !
There’s just something comforting about that big screen and spreading all my ideas out and feeling through the process… ah, process. indeed, the screen is a part of my process — and I think a part of so many people’s in these days of mass technology so ready at our fingertips — screens, large and small, tender to our touch — somehow becoming as tender to our hearts as the skin of our loved ones.
a bit extreme, you say? ah well… just count up the hours you and your screens share vs. those that you and that stubbly chin of your man or those soft lips of your lady share. it’s daunting really… and again, ah well. what to do. embrace it, use it, abuse it — i say… use it to make the moments in time that do involve that exchange of bodily heat to be be that much more connected.
and boy, where have I rambled off to this morning…? Lamenting my iMac’s quietude in the next room, and embracing this whisp of a laptop i find myself now coveting as well. Tomorrow, though, the 24” of metal, glass, and circuitry will be riding the 146 with me down to Michigan avenue’s apple store to hopefully — just hopefully — be salvaged.
I’m hopeful. What else have I to be, I say! …and yes, I promise, real thoughtful writing on our current projects should indeed result from today’s affair with the air. posts are forthcoming…
and one last thing… I’m wondering where the rainmaker is, and the infrared man, and the playground architect, and those others who could perhaps leave a thought, a vision, an anything for us frequenting this playground to work with. we’d appreciate a taste of the world through your eyes — i promise, it only takes a moment.
