I’m working on a project (based on the writing below) and was hoping to get a bit of input from you crazy colleagues of mine…
The Modern Loveletter
Intimacy in a _________ space.
Reading in your own place, own time,
Creating the environment of experience,
the language —
Creating a closeness,
The personal nature of it…
Instantaneous disbursement of information,
the letter, the love is gone from your fingertips —
No grasping and holding it to your chest,
No log, no carbon copy, only ones and zeros and the glare of a screen.
Sent box is in my sanctuary.
basically, I’m going to construct a sentbox. yes yes, “construct” sounds soooooo technical, but yeah, it could be a gmail account. ;) but then again, it could not be… and indeed, my big question here is technical — however nontechnical the technology of it may be… I’m thinking a real email account, a live one, one that anyone who had the username and password could log into and within which discover an identity, identities, a narrative, a conversation, a life… and perhaps, in this case, love(s).
I have a bevy of material to start with and piece into and create the right blank spaces, long pauses, dangling conversations, undisclosed closure, etc…. and I’m not sure about whether people really could login and then use it or what or what technology I’ll need to control it the way I want it… but, I’m just wondering what you guys might think — if anything — of what the best “user experience” might be for exploring the narrative written through a modern correspondence.
